Dr Foster

Dr Foster went to Gloucester
In a shower of rain
He stepped in a puddle
Right up to his middle
And never went there again

Incy wincy spider

Incy wincy spider
climbed up the water spout,
Down came the rain
and washed poor Incy out,

Out came the sun shine
and dried up all the rain,
And Incy Wincy spider
climbed up the spout again

Jack be Nimble

Jack be nimble
Jack be quick
Jack jump over
The candle stick

Hey Diddle Diddle!

Hey Diddle Diddle!
The cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon.

The little dog laughed
To see such fun,
And the dish ran away with the spoon.
Grandma's Nursery Rhymes
Popular Nursery Rhymes

As a child I always loved it when my grandma used to sing for me. I may be getting on a bit now (yeah, got there before you did !) with kids of my own, but I still remember her standing me on the kitchen worktop as a toddler, and singing "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head." Listening to that song now has so much meaning: it gives you a message of looking on the bright side and not letting things get you down. Children are very impressionable and things you teach them when they're young really stick with them forever. Teaching language by singing or reciting ryhmes really gives your children an opportunity to learn in a fun way. Showing that learning can be fun is also a valuable lesson...

This website is a way of passing on our songs, rhymes and stories to our children. As it's so special, and inspired by my grandparents, it is dedicated them. Hope you like it !
